About the Customer:

The Customer is a Bogota, Colombia based private research university founded in 1948 by a group of Colombian intellectuals as the first Colombian university established as non-sectarian. The University has consistently been regarded as the best Colombian university, one of the top 5 Latin American universities, and one of the top 250 world universities, according to both the QS World Top University Ranking and the Times Higher Education Classification.

The university consists of nine schools, three special academic entities offering 31 undergraduate, 18 doctoral, and 38 graduate degree-granting programs in multi-disciplinary areas such as medicine, engineering, science, law and others.

Business Need:

The Customer was migrating from SAP ERP to Oracle Cloud ERP and wanted to engage with an experienced service provider for end-to-end migration of their legacy/historical data of several years to the new system.

Solution/Services Delivered:

Kastech was chosen to perform the data migration including testing and bug fixes post migration. Owing to the volume of data involved and the scope of migration, the project duration was 13 months long and involved our resources working closely with the Customer Team for data cleansing, preparation and validation. The critical aspects of our data migration strategy and methodology were –

  • The business users from Customer Team were given the option to view and validate the data before loading into the new system
  • Creation of robust data archival feature for future use and reconciliation
