PeopleSoft Implementation & Consulting Services for a state’s system of 34 Public Community and Technical Colleges

About the Customer:

The Customer is a state’s system of 34 public community and technical colleges catering to about 370,000 students and is led by a nine-member governor-appointed board. It is a multi-campus/site environment. The college system focuses on three mission areas: Basic Education for Adults, Workforce Education and Academic Transfer. Each year, about students train for the workforce, prepare to transfer to a university, gain basic math and English skills, or pursue continuing education.

Business Need:

As part of its enterprise-wide IT initiative, the Customer had initiated a 100-million-dollar project for implementing PeopleSoft suite of applications (PeopleSoft HCM, FSCM and Campus Solutions) for 34 public community and technical colleges. The entire infrastructure for their PeopleSoft applications is hosted in AWS.

The incumbent vendor utilized more than 80% of the budget but could roll out the applications for only three (3) colleges. In February 2018, Kastech was chosen to provide PeopleSoft Consulting Services and implement the applications for all colleges within the previous project deadlines and for a budget that was 20% of the initial approved funds plus some extra funds.

Solution/Services Delivered:

Kastech used a phased approach to implement the applications for remaining 31 colleges within the pre-agreed project timeline. Go-live has been planned in phases for 34 colleges being divided into six (6) Deployment Groups (DGs). 15 colleges are live so far and the total college population will be live by Oct 2022.

Our key services have been business process evaluation and documentation, fit-gap analysis, retrofitting, architecture, development, configuration, customizations, data conversions, technical conversion and documentation, training, load testing, test automation, and so forth. We are also providing Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) services for the testing performed on each new application roll-out, called the DG Roll-out that takes place during the mid-year for six (6) colleges. We have also successfully developed and implemented Online Admissions Application Portal (OAAP) that works seamlessly with the PeopleSoft applications.

Today, while continuing to provide our PeopleSoft consulting services in this critical initiative, we cherish and take pride in our close association with the Customer Team.
